Age: 16 - 22
Purpose: The purpose of this piece is to illustrate how normal celebrities and politicians can be.
J: Great speech President Obama!
B.O.: Why thank you, it's much appreciated but I'm not the man you should be applauding. The forefather's of America and Canada as well are the true heroes and they are the ones you should applaud. My speeches are only reflections of the hard word and sacrifice of the men and women that came before us.
J: (Thinking out loud) Hmm, I guess you have a point.
B.O.: Indeed.
J: Hey President, did you catch the Bulls game last night?
B.O.: Well, uh.. I was told not to mention this but... I did manage to work around some paper work and I was able to watch the second half. It was a great game, but the Bulls just haven't had the same magic since Mike retired.
J: I couldn't agree with you more Mr. President.
B.O.: Hey, call me Barack. I'm still getting used to the whole Mr. President thing.
J: (Laughs) Sure thing Barack. Hey, who do you think is going to take it all this year?
B.O.: In my opinion, it all comes down to the fans this year. With the way our economy is today, there's going to be a slight struggle for some teams to sell the normal amount of playoff tickets. With that said, certain venues such as Los Angeles, Boston, and Cleveland are pretty much immune to the state of the economy. I think one of those three teams can ride the emotion and support of their fan base to win it all.
J: Boy, you sure do have your mind on the economy an awful lot don't you?
B.O.: (Chuckles) Hey, it's all part of being the President.
J: (In amazement) I can only imagine what that must be like.
B.O.: (Staring off into the sky) I used to feel the same way. Now that I'm here, it's almost surreal. To think... I'm standing in front of the same great country and proud citizens that men such as Abraham Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Franklin once stood in front of. Representing the American people and the American Dream is a tremendous honour and I have to remind myself everyday of how lucky I am to be here.
J: (confused) Um, Barack... you do know you're in Canada right now right? Standing in front of good old Canada and the Canadian people?
B.O.: (Surprised) Oh, right! My apologies, I was simply trailing off into my own world.
J: No problem.
(A man in a dark suit and dark sunglasses whispers in Barack Obama's ear)
B.O.: Hey, sorry to leave you hanging but I've just been informed of an emergency that I have attend to. It was great talking with you and I hope to see you again some day.
J: (Waving) Same to you Barack! And good luck with that whole "rebuilding the economy" thing!
