Audience: 16-25
Purpose: This fairytale uses the concept of "The Three Little Pigs", to illustrate the vulnerability of young celebrities in today's entertainment world. The media outlets act like wolves, on a mission to devour others to satisfy themselves and their audience. This piece will hopefully enlighten the same audience of the other side of the story.
Once upon time, there were three budding stars waiting to have their moment in the spotlight. Each had their own special talents, one was a singer, the other an actor, and the last was a young film maker. On one evening, when it came time to break out into the celebrity world, their agent gave them a few words of advise, "Go out and do what you guys do best, have fun but try and avoid the cameras."And so, the three young stars set out across California in search of opportunities and fame.
The youngest of the three, Bobby the singer, began to build his career with a small record company in Los Angeles. He was doing quite well for himself at first, finishing an album, sky rocketing to the top of the music charts, and meeting girls from all over the world. But one evening, Bobby was invited to do a show on Sunday's Live Night, one of his favourite shows growing up. The only problem? Bobby was beginning to feel horribly sick, and would not be able to perform at his best. But Sunday's Live Night didn't care, for Bobby had already said yes. Time was running out for Bobby, the show was in two days and his health was only getting worse. Things were looking grim for the once budding star. When Sunday rolled around however, a flash of brilliance emerged from Bobby's deteriorating mind. He paused backstage before his first rehearsal, and said to himself, "If Ashylin Sampson could lip sync, I can too!"
Before he knew it, he was performing on stage, mouthing the words to his own hit song "Big Bad Wolf". He was having a blast, but as the song was nearing it's end, his career was doing so as well. For you see, Sunday's Live Night is the medium for which The Monsterous Media devours young celebrity star power.
Bobby was never seen again after his Sunday night performance, and understandably so. His attempt at lip-syncing had been posted all over the internet and he soon became the laughing stock of the TubeView.com community.
With one down and two more to go, The Monstrous Media soon began to set it's eyes on Tommy the actor. With a giggle and a grin, The Montrous Media said, "Let the fun begin."
Very clever, James! Great representation of the wolves and pigs, I would've never thought about that. I like how suspensful you left it off as well. Though, you should develope the character's personality.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading Kayla, and I really appreaciate your suggestion about developing the character's personality.
