Audience:15-30
Purpose: The purpose of this piece is to inspire teenagers and adults to take their own path towards life. Success does not have to come from the advice of others, all it takes is devotion to something you love and this is evident in Bobby's story of music.
A young man, patiently awaiting the evening streetcar, is transfixed in a world of his own. Under the eyes of perception, this man can be called Bobby. He is by himself, with only his guitar by his side. Although he is alone and content, Bobby exudes a personality filled with extravagance and wonder.
With his guitar slung over his back and rock star sunglasses masking his face, Bobby makes it known to the rest of the world that he is a musician. On top of that, Bobby is a journeyman of sorts. He does not have a home to return to, preferring to travel from cities to towns and from towns to cities. Bobby has seen it all through his travels, and at his young age still seeks more adventure. He is currently in search of a part-time gig, trying to make enough money to go to the next destination of his choosing. Whether it be a performance at a bar or simply on the street, Bobby always finds a way to keep himself and his journey alive.
For Bobby, appearance is everything. He braves the cold whether with a simple black hooded jacket, dark jeans, and white sneakers. He has the appeal of a celebrity and the demeanour of librarian. Bobby is calm, quite and reserved, yet something about him attracts others and their pocket change. He uses his mysterious nature to draw the attention of those around him, and this pays dividends for his career as a traveling musician.
Bobby often revels in his experiences and this was obvious as he waited for the evening streetcar. Staring into the sky, Bobby was truly in a world of his own. As the streetcar pulled up, Bobby hopped on, paid the bus fair, and was off to his next destination.

Enchanting character development. I became instantly engaged in Bobby's world.
ReplyDeleteThere is a sudden switch to past tense in the last paragraph. Why?
What is your intended audience and message(purpose) of this piece?
I love musicians. Your last paragraphs seemed to have a few typos. weather, quiet, and paid his bus fair. Other than that, well done :)
